Glasstic Shatterproof Water Bottle Review

I think we all know how important drinking water is and how good it is for us. It delivers oxygen throughout our body, helps our internal organs works better, keeps us hydrated and so much more. I find it easy to drink water because I love it, but I know this isn’t the case for everyone. I am also one of those people that would grab a chilled bottle of water from the fridge before I would fill up a glass from the tap. I love convenience and love cold water and being so busy, it’s nice to quickly grab and go. I have several refillable water bottles that I fill and put in the fridge, add fruit to and take with me places so I can refill them. Bottles like this were absolutely necessary to have when going to college, but a concern I had was leaking and breaking a bottle. I do have a brand I love (contigo) that I use all the time, but I am on the lookout for other water bottles that work for me and the Glasstic bottle is a new favorite of mine!

So, I have been meaning to do a review of this water bottle for quite some time and I honestly wanted to use it for a while before doing that to really get a good idea of its quality.

I drink a lot of water and have a lot of bottles, but my biggest concerns are leaking, cleaning and breaking with bottles. I want to make sure if I spend money on a refillable bottle that it’s not going to leak, it’s easy to clean and that it’s not going to break like a month after I get it.

I am pretty impressed by this water bottle by Glasstic. When I first heard about it, I was not only confused, but a bit skeptical.

How is a glass water bottle shatterproof? Well, this particular bottle is designed in a way that if you drop it, it does not break. Seriously. I have dropped it several times and not even a crack. It’s actually quite amazing that it’s nearly unbreakable.

So, how does it work? Well, let’s get right down to it.

The water bottle is designed with outer plastic shell. It’s BPA free plastic and the nice thing about this is that your water doesn’t touch the plastic, if that’s a concern of yours. Now the water does touch the top when you drink, but that is also BPA free. The shell slides over a glass bottle part with a neck seal to prevent leaking and the bottom of the plastic shell fits the glass part at the bottom, so it doesn’t slide out. It has two parts to keep the plastic in place over the glass-a lid cap and a bottom base. They are both complete with removable washers that prevent leaking. The glass bottle also has a washer on the top where the lid screws on.

The bottom base helps keep the plastic snug against the glass without moving around and the top (lid) screws snuggly onto the entire bottle. The lid has a nice size mouth opening so that it’s easy to drink from, the one I have has a handle on it which is a plus and the lid is a flip type that locks in place (I was extremely excited about this). I love when companies make lids that lock closed. If your bottle turns over or slides around in your bag, the locking feature prevents spills or from the lid coming off. I tried to get it to leak anyway I could and it just doesn’t!

As far as cleaning, there is basically no hidden crevices in this bottle for bacteria to hide. You can easily take the washers out of the bottom cap and lid so that you can clean those and replace them, the outer shell is large enough to use a water bottle brush or other sponge and since some condensation may happen between the glass and plastic shell, it’s super nice that these parts of removable so you can be sure no mold or mildew will form.

The way this bottle is design in itself is pretty amazing. I thought for sure that the glass would shake around inside the plastic shell, but it doesn’t at all. Since we are full-time RV travelers, it’s important that we have items like this that don’t leak and especially don’t break. I have tested it by dropping it in the RV, the road, the grass, the deck and a regular floor and not even a crack happened, which is awesome, but I don’t recommend you test this by just throwing it around (that’s my job as a reviewer)!

I can honestly say this thing is actually shatterproof with normal use and for a clumsy person like myself, I would definitely buy more of these.

As for price, they are pretty affordable. The one I have, which is shown, is $15.99 and regular prices are around $19.99. They also have a lifetime parts replacement! Pretty awesome. I love when companies have lifetime guarantees on products. It kind of takes the risk out of buying for me personally. They also have a lot of extras on their site like water bottle brushes, inserts with designs (if you buy a plain bottle), a shoulder strap and even a tea infuser!

I can’t really say anything bad about this bottle. I don’t know much about the company other than what I read on their website, so I can’t really say much about them as a whole. I hadn’t even heard of this product before getting the bottle for review, but they seem to have a lot to offer.

Check them out and check out my video on how to take your bottle apart to clean it and to see the features!
