Your Essential Guide to CBD by Purplebox Vapours

Cannabidiol (more commonly known as CBD) has undergone a huge rise in popularity over the past year. Despite this, many are still uncertain about the uses and benefits of CBD oil – not to mention its legality. This infographic from the team at purplebox vapours offers a simple guide to CBD for beginners.

But first, What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, comes from a variety of the cannabis sativa known as hemp. It can comprise up to 40% of the plant’s extract and is usually concentrated into a liquid oil, known as CBD Oil.

There is still some confusion about the relationship between marijuana and CBD. However, there are a few key differences you need to know. Firstly, CBD is derived from the hemp plant, whereas marijuana comes from the marijuana plant. What’s more, unlike marijuana CBD is not an intoxicating substance. This is due to the levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (usually shortened to THC) in the plant. Whereas THC can make up to 30% of marijuana, CBD typically only contains 0.2 – 0.3%.

So, What Is All The Hype About CBD About?

Research shows that CBD has potential to treat a number of conditions.  This is because it interacts with serotonin receptors throughout the body. For example, a 2017 study described how CBD suggested that cannabis oils containing CBD may help with chronic pain management, e.g. low back pain and arthritic pain. Research also indicates the potential of CBD to help treat stress, migraines, schizophrenia, epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease.

Is CBD Legal?

In December 2018, the Senate introduced a new Farm Bill which removed all cannabis-based products with less than a 0.3% concentration of “THC” from the Controlled Substances Act. This bill legalized the production and distribution of hemp-derived products, such as CBD, throughout the US.
