Welcome to the first post of “All About Oils”. For these posts, I’ll tell you about a great oil, it’s benefits and uses.
The first oil to be featured is Jasmine Absolute.
Jasmine Absolute is a wonderfully floral oil extracted from the white flowers of the plant and can be extracted from two species of Jasmine. It has a sweet, floral scent and it is considered a holy flower in other parts of the world such as Pakistan, who has made it their official flower.
Jasmine was growing outside my window most of my life and it’s such a happy and sweet smelling flower in my opinion. It typically grows at night and can be in bloom from summer to fall.
It’s floral, feminine and bright scent has been used in products such as Chanel No. 5 perfume and you have probably seen it in body lotions and washes as well.
Jasmine has many benefits including use in skin care, antiseptic qualities, minor pain issues and can help relax the mind. It’s a happy scent and it is highly loved among those who try it. A little goes a long way with this oil and I sometimes use it as a natural air freshener through diffusion instead of chemical air fresheners and plug in devices. It’s also used topically, diluted with a carrier oil for a natural perfume.
It is called Absolute because of the extraction process (solvent) and thus makes this a highly concentrated scent to the oil. The solvent extraction method is best for plants that are very delicate such as rose and jasmine and if it were steam distilled, it would product very little oil as a result.
It blends beautifully with other oils such as sandalwood, rose otto, rose absolute, frankincense, sweet orange and bergamot.
Jasmine is such a lovely scent. It’s definitely a favorite of mine and because just a drop can be beneficial for fragrance, a bottle can last a while. It can be somewhat strong, so less is more in this case. Want to make your own jasmine perfume. See the DIY I’ve included!
What you’ll need:
Jasmine Absolute Essential Oil (you can get it here for 15% off)
Sweet Orange Essential Oil (you can also get it here)
Bergamot Essenti Oil (find it here)
Carrier oil of your choice. I like to use fractionated coconut oil. (get it here)

Add 1 drop Jasmine
Add 2 drops Sweet Orange
Add 3 drops Bergamot
Then fill the bottle with the carrier oil. Do not fill all the way to the top as you need room to insert the roller insert.
