The amazing benefits of bee pollen and why you should be taking it.

Bees are amazing little creatures and they create more than just honey for our tea. Bees work hard every day to create a healthy world for us and it’s time to give them the props they deserve!

Aside from honey, bees also help create beeswax, bee bread, propolis, royal jelly, bee venom, nectar and more.

Bee pollen is also something made by bees and there are huge health benefits from it. But what exactly is it?

Bee pollen is made from young bees when they land on flowers and it’s made up of nectar, flower pollen and saliva and then the bees carry this back to the hive and store it in the honeycomb. It eventually turns into something called “bee bread”. Once this is harvested, we have bee pollen.

Bee pollen has many health benefits such as anti-oxidant factors, lowering cholesterol, fighting heart disease, the ability to reduce menopausal hot flashes, aiding digestion and more. It can also be applied to wounds to aid in healing and fight bacteria.

It has also been suggested that it may help in fighting allergies and this is why I started taking it. I have very bad allergies and it causes sinus pressure and pain, stuffy nose, scratchy throat, watery eyes and even migraines. I did a bit of research on bee pollen and learned it was beneficial for so many health conditions, including digestion like I mentioned above. I was pretty excited about that because I also needed a bit of help in that area too.

Now bee pollen does have warnings. If you take a blood thinner such as Coumadin, it’s not recommended that you take bee pollen. Also, as always, consult your physician before using ANY supplement. Every individual is different and you never know if you might have an adverse effect to a supplement.

I am really happy with my results from using this in a short period of time and the more I learn about bees, the more I am so amazed at how exceptional they are. I’ve been using raw honey for a few years as well and local honey to help in reducing allergies and I love it.

Did you know some types of bees are now on the endangered species list? Yep, it’s sad, but true. You can help fight this by visiting websites like The Honeybee Conservancy and Save Our Bees Australia. You can sponsore a hive, educate yourself and others and donate to help organizations like this continue to save bees. Also, support your local beekeepers and honey businesses to give your money right back to bees. This helps the local farmers make pure and natural products and keep those little, fuzzy fellas in business. Plus, you know what is going into the product you buy. When you buy off a mass-chain retailers shelf, you may not know where or how your honey was produced. Not only may the honey be made with additives like sweeteners, but it may contain some not so healthy ingredients like antibiotics or pesticides.

Get your own bee pollen right here or at your local health food store. Get your honey locally and discover the benefits of bees!
